the norm residue homomorphism
In order to introduce the norm residue homomorphism there will be a short review of Galois cohomology culminating in a cohomological formulation of Hilbert's famous theorem 90, followed by the surprisingly simple definition of Milnor K-theory. Motivated by some properties of quaternion algebras the existence of the norm residue homomorphism can now easily be derived.
