Contact Non-Squeezing via Generating Functions
In 2006 Eliashberg, Kim and Polterovich discovered an interesting non-squeezing phenomenon for domains in the contact manifold R^2n x S^1, and proved it in the setting of Symplectic Field Theory. I will present a much more elementary proof of their result, based on the application of Morse theoretical methods to generating functions of contactomorphisms.
