Numerical simulation of the dynamics of red blood cells

The study of deformation characteristics of red blood cells can offer insights into the connections between mechanical state, and blood analyzers measurements. Indeed, the development of a computational code, able to simulate the dynamics of red blood cells, is expected to provide the necessary information to improve blood analyzers design. After a description of the modeling approach and the numerical method used to develop such a program, several test cases will be presented. This will enable to validate the operation of the computational code, and implement the most suitable mechanical model to represent the behaviour of the red blood cells membrane.
