Relatively hyperbolic groups with planar boundaries

We explain what a relatively hyperbolic group is and what its Bowditch boundary is. Then we will give examples of relatively hyperbolic groups with planar Bowditch boundaries, and formulate a conjecture about when this occurs. We also explore a particular class of the relatively hyperbolic group boundaries, Schottky sets, and obtain specific algebraic restrictions on what types of groups can occur. This talk is based on joint work with Chris Hruska and on joint work with Peter Haissinsky and Luisa Paoluzzi.
