Optimal ranking for bimonotonic matrices

Consider n experts answering d questions. Some experts can be better or worse than others and some questions easier or harder. This talk is about the problem of ranking the experts according to their expertise. More precisely, I will introduce a computational and minimax optimal method based on hierarchical clustering and PCA to estimate the optimal permutation of a bimonotonic matrix whose rows are shuffled. br>
