Interpretative processes in combinatorial problem solving

In combinatorial problem solving students spontaneously develop a wide set of heuristics to solve problems which are often changed after they receive instruction on the topic. This seminar is going to present an overview of a research work where the reasons behind the observed transformations were investigated, focusing on the figure of the secondary school teacher and its practice when teaching combinatorics. In particular, the focus will be put on the interpretative processes that are carried on toward students' resolutions and the motivations that stand behind the choices that are made.
