Knots in contact manifold

Knots in contact manifolds are an interesting field of study. Lot of results were proved in contact geometry using the knots in them. In this talk, I'll define a contact manifold and the knots in them and briefly mention some of these results. There are two types of contact manifolds: tight and overtwisted. Recently the knots in overtwisted manifolds have generated significant amount of interest due to their mysterious nature. I will focus on this part and show some of the recent results we proved about these knots. Parts of this talk will be based on joint work with Etnyre-Min-Mukherjee and Geiges-Onaran.
