Teleparallel geometries: from continuum mechanics to general relativity
I will talk about the use of teleparallel geometry, and its concepts such as torsion and orthonormal frames, to model different materials, from fluids to solids. In particular, I will discuss how these concepts can be used to model melting and solidification or general solid-fluid transformations, wave propagation in acoustic metamaterials, and turbulence. Finally, I will talk about the potential applications of teleparallel geometry in computational general relativity and the importance of structure-preserving numerical methods.
