Fictitious domain approach for fluid–structure interaction problems
Prof. Boffi will present the definition and main theoretical results of a fictitious domain formulation for modeling and approximating fluid–structure interactions. The method offers an unfitted discretization with solid theoretical guarantees and unconditional stability in time, while avoiding typical issues such as instabilities from small cut cells. The talk will conclude with conditioning estimates of the discrete system and ideas for a multigrid solution strategy.
