Blood flow simulations at different scales: from the clinical motivations to the numerical results

Blood flow in the larger arteries and veins is highly three-dimensional. At that level, geometry and boundary conditions are its main drivers and must be modeled with care. We will illustrate these points through examples of congenital heart disease repairs, from clinical data to numerical results. At smaller scales, where the geometry of the individual vessels is often not accessible through conventional imaging, a different modeling approach is necessary. We will present a poroelastic model of the heart perfusion, valid under large strain. At an even finer scale, we will describe a simple model of microcirculation which interacts with tumor cells in a multiscale framework.
